Frequently Asked Questions and information

Where do the cabinet prices come from ?
Because many established kitchen manufacturers are already using a spreadsheet to work out cabinet details, we decided it would be easier to import the pricing from a spreadsheet.

If structured properly, spreadsheets are more powerfull when it comes to making changes in bulk, rather than changing individual cabinet Bill of Materials from within Kitchen Quotemaster.
Where do door prices come from ?
Most third party door manufacturers can supply pricing in spreadsheet format and only needs "grooming" to be able to import into Kitchen Quotemaster. Samples of these spreadsheets are provided for your convenience.
What is the relationship between cabinets, doors and hardware ?
Cabinets should only contain bare carcass and optionally hardware pricing (hardware can be added independently in the application if required).

Doors should contain only the doors in a finished state with no cabinet or hardware pricing.

The doors are then "married" to the cabinet pricing (and optionally the hardware) at the time of creating the quotation.
Can more than one person use Kitchen Quotemaster ?
Yes - Kitchen Quotemaster is inherently multi-user. Each time a user connects to a server hosted version of the application, they get a personal copy of the pricing to work with when creating a quotation. Note that each concurrent user will require a rental license.
Does my workstation need to be on a network domain?
Technically No - The SQL Browser Service allow connections to the database without being on a domain, however, it is generally better in a shared environment to have the SQL database hosted on a dedicated local windows server.
How is Kitchen Quotemaster licenced?
For each user that will use the application to produce quotes, you will need to purchase an annual licence. The more you purchase the cheaper it will be, providing an economy of scale.
What happens if I already have Microsoft SQL installed and it is not the Express Edition?
In this scenario if you wish to use your installed version, you would skip the installation of SQL Express, however, you will have to manually create the KQmaster database using SQL Management Studio and use the creation script provided. Contact us for more information.
What is an SQL Instance Name?
When you install any version of Microsoft SQL you have the option to give it an Instance Name. This provides the ability to have more than one installation of SQL by tagging the installation with a unique name extension such as 'SQLEXPRESS' or 'SQLEXPRESS2014'. By default the Express Editions automaticaly offer 'SQLEXPRESS' whereas the non-Express Editions do not offer an instance name unless another version is detected.
Can I install an Express Edition of SQL onto a Server?
With the exeption of Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS - now obsolete), SQL Express Editions can be installed on a Microsoft Windows Server.
